This spacious and sunny corner room is situated on the second floor. It overlooks the front of the house with a view on the four old trees and the long driveway. From the window at the back you overlook some 19th century outbuildings which are part of our historic home.
The warm and inviting room features original wooden floors, a plush King bed, a comfortable seating area and an electric heated fireplace. Have to work? No problem, there is a desk you can use. We made sure the room is updated with the last technologies like USB outlets and smart HVAC thermostats.

We loved the coziness
What a wonderful location and accommodation. We loved the coziness of the rooms and the breakfast was one of a kind! Martijn was wonderful to speak with and we really enjoyed some facts and history of The Netherlands. Would love to come back again. Thank you so much for your hospitality."
Exceeded our expectation
Although we only live 40 minutes away, we ended up in Clarksville due to a family emergency and needed a place to stay at the very last minute. We were welcome with open arms like family. Our room was fabulous, the food exceptional, and the company exceeded our expectation. Thank you for taking a very tough time in our lives and putting a bright light on it.
Sunnyside Sisters Review
This was our first stay at the Sunnyside Sisters Bed and Breakfast and our experience exceeded all expectations. When we arrived to check in Eveline was at the front door with a welcoming smile and greeting. We were given an overview of the property and shown to our spacious room (the Miss Emily). After playing a band gig at Buggs Island Brewing and being totally exhausted the bed felt so good. We slept great and woke up the next morning totally refreshed. As promised, a Dutch breakfast awaited us. After enjoying some wonderfully tasty coffee, Martijn graciously served us a delicious soufflé which I had never had before, gouda cheese straight from Holland, fresh bread that was so good, fresh squeezed orange juice, and sausage links. I usually don't eat much breakfast but this was delicious. While eating Martijn answered our many questions about the history of the place which I am sure happens alot. While feasting on our breakfast we also enjoyed meeting some of the other guests and getting to know them a bit. Overall, the experience was great! The Sunnyside Sisters possesses personality and character not to be found in a cookie cutter hotel or any other B&B I have experienced - Highly Recommended.
Motor cross in Alton
What a lovely stay, with lovely hosts. A last minute decision to stay as we were passing through turned out to be a trip highlight. Thanks Martijn & Eveline. We will be back!
This room is dedicated to Miss Emily Eaton Carrington, teacher in Mathematics, French and General Grade Work at the Sunny Side School for Young Ladies.
Miss Emily was born on January 15, 1835 at Finneywood, Virginia as the fifth daughter of Tucker Carrington and Mary Watkins Carrington. She was educated partly at her father's home under the instruction of a governess, and partly in the Clarksville school. Her life was largely spend in teaching and when her sister Agnes died in 1887 she became the principal of the Sunnyside School.
Miss Emily had a wonderful brain, a clear understanding and a perfect judgement. She was admired for her intellect, ability, initiative, clear understanding and a perfect judgement. She is described as a 'truly great lady'. A noble woman and a courageous woman, a loyal friend, sparkling with wit and humor.
Miss Emily died on September 22, 1922 at the respected age of 87 years.
